You know what? I’m quite tired of pretending that everything’s okay. It isn’t. I’m literally falling apart from the inside out. In the nine weeks since Tobie was born I’ve had the following procedures:
- Upper endoscopy (EGD)
- ERCP (endoscopic surgery)
- Echocardiogram
- Gastric Emptying Study (eating a radioactive egg)
- Head CT Scan
- Abdominal CT Scan
- Ultrasound
- Abscess aspiration
And tomorrow I’m scheduled for surgery (more on that later).
In the nine weeks since Tobie was born, I’ve been diagnosed with:
- Gallstones
- Mitral Valve Prolapse
- Thrush
- Blocked milk duct
- Gastroparesis
- Pancreatitis
- Mastitis
- Abscess (resulting from the mastitis)
I’ve really had quite enough. I saw a surgeon today to confirm my OB’s suspicions that the mastitis has progressed into an abscess. I was really hoping that he wouldn’t agree, but there really was no doubt. He did an ultrasound, tried aspirating the abscess and the backed up milk (I have a huge lump about 2 inches wide and 4-5 inches long that’s probably all milk). But he wasn’t successful, so tomorrow I’m having surgery.
I have an amazing husband, awesome kids, some really great friends. The rest of my life can suck it.
Wasn’t there 2 heart conditions they diagnosed you with?
I am so sorry you’re having such a rough time (understatement). I wish there was something I could do to help you heal. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. (((hugs)))
Oh, Manischewitz!! Thinking about you.
ouch ! sorry ! and I could add other expletives in an attempt to express some of the frustration you must feel …..hope the abcess gets sorted and a line is drawn now
Oh girl I will be thinking of you.
I’m so sorry. Thank you for updating us! Man that is a lot. Good thing you have doctors who are on top of it all! Hope the surgery today went smoothly and was successful and you are able to have a good Shabbat.
Karen, I’m so sorry that you have to deal with all this.
I hope the clouds clear soon.
I hope the shitstorm of bad luck is over. I really hope you get back to feeling ok soon.
Ah fuck I’m so sorry. I’ve been worrying about you, figuring that the lack of posting was not a good sign. Of course, worrying about an innernets stranger is probably not a great sign of my personal mental health, either. I hope the surgery is successful and you see better days soon.
Dang. I’m so sorry. Hoping that things start to go better soon and that soon you’re on the mend.
*hugs* just *hugs*
I’m sorry. really sorry.
Ephraim can sympathize with having abscess surgery this week…
but the list here just seems like too much for five people.
Yes, that is a lot of things. It’s as if one part of your body was getting too much attention for the other parts’ liking. Thank goodness for those around you. I really hope your list is as big as it’s going to get, and that you can start putting these troubles behind you.

Wow, just wow. That is too many things for one person. I don’t know what to do except send you virtual hugs and let you know that anytime you need to whine or vent, my email inbox is open.
