My officemate, who I haven’t seen for over a week because she was on vacation, looked at me today and said, “Every time I see you, you’re skinnier than the last time.” Admittedly, when I turned to the side to show her my profile, she knew exactly where its all going. Still, it’s disturbing that I’m thinner yet… you know, pregnant.
Well, you know? I always said I was just one triplet pregnancy away from my ideal body weight. Turns out, it’s just pregnancy. Maybe I’ll be a perfect size 6 when this is all done and over with.
Ahem. I am not counting on that, just for the record.
Not that it’s something anyone would wish for but if you have to put up with all the nausea etc having the side benefit of being a bit thinner when your done isn’t a bad side benefit.
not worth it, but yeah, if you’ve already done the time, might as well get *some* benefit.
How do you make sure it’s the stored fat that is getting used and not the muscle?
Anon – you don’t. But there’s still nothing you can really do about it either way. Just so you know – I am absolutely not suggesting that losing weight while pregnant is a GOOD thing. It is most decidedly NOT.
(I do think you can tell a little about the fat/muscle thing – hyperemesis patients do ketosis testing every day – if you’re ketotic, you’re burning stored fat, if I understand correctly. Unfortunately, prolonged ketosis isn’t great for mom, and apparently babies do better getting calories from food not from mom)
